Why play Queens here

How to play

  1. Tap a cell once for an X, twice for a crown, a third time to clear it.
  2. Press and drag to put an X on every empty cell you pass. Start the drag on one of your X's to wipe X's instead. Crowns never change.
  3. Turn on Auto-place X's below the board and every crown crosses out its row, column, colour region and the cells around it. These X's are lighter and go away with the crown.
  4. Place one crown in every row, every column and every colour region.
  5. Crowns can't touch, not even diagonally. Crowns that clash turn red.
  6. Hint: press once to see where to look, again for the move and why.
  7. On a keyboard: click the board or Tab to it, move with the arrow keys, press Q for a crown, X for a cross, Space to cycle, Backspace to clear.

Questions

Is Queens Game Unlimited free?

Yes. All 720 Queens boards are free, with nothing to install and no account to create.

Is this the official LinkedIn Queens?

No, it's an unofficial practice game: our own crown boards, built to the same rules as LinkedIn's daily Queens. For the official puzzle, see today's Queens answer.

What are the rules?

Place one crown in every row, every column and every colour region. No two crowns may touch, not even diagonally.

Can every board be solved without guessing?

Yes. Our solver places every crown by reasoning alone, never testing more than one crown ahead, and confirms there is no second solution.

Which size should I start with?

Easy 6×6 if you are new: six regions, and the small ones give their crown away quickly. Each size up adds a row, a column and a region, up to Grandmaster 11×11.

What is hard mode?

A filter for the boards that need the harder ideas: at some point you must see two or more regions squeezed into the same rows or columns, or test a crown one step ahead. Our solver sorted all 720 boards by the hardest move each one needs; about a third are hard.

What are the Xs for?

They are notes for you: a cell where a crown can't go. Tap once, drag across several cells, or let Auto-place X's do it. Only crowns count toward the solution.

Is there a daily Queens?

Yes. Daily Queens Unlimited has one new board a day, the same for everyone: 6×6 on Monday, 7×7 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 8×8 on Thursday and Friday and 9×9 at the weekend.

Where is my progress saved?

Only on your device. Your browser keeps how many boards of each size you have solved, your best times and your daily streak; we never see them.
